The background picture on this page was taken at Bisbee, Arizona. Bisbee was at one time the leading producer of copper in the state. Bisbee also gave us some of the most wonderful copper minerals ever seen during its years of operation. Be sure to check out the Arizona page.
The pictures below are a killer group of five (5) Wulfenites from the now closed Red Cloud mine in La Paz Co., Arizona. The group includes three (3) single crystals, one V-twinned crystal group, and a small cluster of 5 or so crystals (single picture). All of these were once in the Arthur Montgomery collection and were likely collected by Art with his collecting buddy Ed Over, during his many forays into the Arizona outback in the 1930s. This material is easily distinguishable from the more modern, less hefty crystals. Richard Hauck purchased them from Montgomery! What a treasure! The crystals are all of the best quality with outstanding luster and bright orange-red color. Thumbnails range in size from - 2.4 x 1.3 x 0.6, 1.9 x 1.8 x 0.5, 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.1, 1.7 x 1.9 x 0.4, 2.0 x 1.9 x 0.6 cm

The picture below is a killer group of Malachite after Azurite crystals from Bisbee, Ariz. This mineral was formally in the Dawn and Jim Minette collection and was purchased at the 2008 Tucson Show. Photo by Jeff Scovil.
